When you take a look at the countries with some of the best women’s rights, you will see Germany in the list, almost always. A country in which women’s rights can be found deep in the constitution, and women of the country enjoy a lot of amenities such as legal protection, family leaves, and proper jobs, there is no denying that when it comes to providing women the rights, Germany is doing a lot. Angela Merkel, who has been the chancellor of Germany since 2005 is undeniably one of the most powerful women in the world.
Despite the fact that the German laws are all about women empowerment, it seems like that the German culture is not. Despite the #metoo movement taking a toll, and being responsible for the downfall of so many famous public figures including celebrities, it seems like the sexual misconduct, and harassment is not something that happens to be the major topic that is being discussed in the Germany.
While Merkel has done a lot to increase the profile of women in Germany, she does not like being called a feminist at all. As it seems, there has been absolutely nothing related to the #metoo movement in Germany as there has been in other countries on the same scale. It is strange, because Germany, as a country, is all about women’s rights, so it is hard to understand why there is nothing going on in the country. Aside from Dieter Wedel who is being investigated for predatory behavior, no politician, corporate moguls, or celebrities have been targeted and exposed by harassment charges against them.
Many have a theory that after living with the guilt of Nazi terror for years, the German society is simply not ready to grasp onto another class of victims. Many even say that not many women in Germany want to come out and talk about how they have been the victim, but the only reason they do not do that is because they will not be getting much sympathy.
According to official statements, many believe that the debate surrounding harassment simply does not resonate in Germany. They even talk about how women in Germany have more important concerns. According to a poll in November, a research found out that only 1 percent of German women talk about how the #metoo debate is relevant to their lives. However, it does not mean that the harassment does not effect in Germany. It exists, but it is not enough to have someone take action against the culprits.
This is one of the strangest phenomena that many people have seen in the history of the world. Despite the #metoo movement reaching new heights, many people are still not sure why Germany is lagging behind the whole movement. Is it because there is no harassment in the country? If that is so, then why every now and then we read about it on the internet. It is hard to say.
In the modern day and age, it is safe to say that women’s rights are slowly increasing, and getting better and better. This is something that has been long overdue as we need to accept that women deserve the equal spot in the society as compared to the male counterparts. Still, several of the countries are still grasping the concept of women’s rights, and trying to make them better, and more prominent.
Whatever the case might be, we need to understand that there is still a lot to be done, and we can’t just ignore that. As a matter off act, there are a lot of things we can do to help improve the women’s right. Yes, we, as responsible citizens, can do a lot to improve women’s rights. Want to know how? That is what we are going to look at.
Sure, speaking up and raising your voice is something that has been considered a rebellious act for a long, long time, but it is necessary to understand that you are going to be doing it for a cause that is good. Your voice will amplify, and will be able to change the course of a conversation.
Another way you could be helpful towards women’s rights is by being supportive of one and the other. This is something many people need to start understanding as the support can bring forward a new movement.

Share Your Knowledge With Others
Why should the knowledge of women’s rights remain within the current society members? Instead of doing that, go ahead and start sharing your knowledge with others; inform them about what the movement is all about, especially the younger generation.
Be Aware of Your Rights
If you are trying to speak up for women’s rights, the first thing you need to do is being aware of your own rights. Simply put, human rights are women’s rights, and vice versa. So, keep the human rights in mind, and you will have an easier time understanding and promoting women’s rights.
