'Filiklik' is the name of WaR's half-way house. The word 'Filiklik'
is an Amharic word which means: 'bubbling with joy, energy and
enthusiasm'. Filiklik was established to accommodate women going
through the counselling and rehabilitation process, facing difficult
situations of various types, such as addictions, unhelpful relationships
and lack of support...
When a
woman finds herself struggling with any specific issue and has
the needs for a safe place to rest and be supported, the door
is always open to her. But she herself has to specify her need,
the support she needs, and specify the length of the time she
needs to stay in the house. And once she moves in, she is expected
to abide by the basic rules of the house.
When we
opened the house, January 2001, our prayer was that it will
be a place filled with peace and laughter as the name implies.
And it has been that, though lots of tears were shed, lifes
challenged, supported and nurtured, it also has been a place
of safety and joy. |
